The Academy Awards are finally upon us, and over the past few days, event organizers and participators have been busily running through every step to make sure the show goes on without any hiccups. On Saturday, Hollywood’s biggest names made their way to the Kodak Theater one by one, in 15-minute increments, to walk on stage and practice their lines.Also going through test runs were Hollwood hotties like Jessica Alba, Cameron Diaz and Penelope Cruz, along with young stars, Miley Cyrus and Kristin Chenoweth.

With the Oscars coming up this weekend, Los Angeles, California is about to overflow with celebrities. And Penelope Cruz was spotted making her way to Tinseltown yesterday.

Having just arrived at LAX airport, the “Vanilla Sky” actress seemed a bit bashful with the paparazzi that are no doubt camping out there this weekend. Cruz pulled off the casual-yet-classy look quite well in a black form-fitting shirt, jeans, and a black and white checked jacket, complete with a matching Chanel bag.

It sounds like Penelope has a hot new project in the works. While in LA, she’s reportedly scheduled to meet with Bollywood film producers Anurag Basu and Rakesh Roshan about a new project.

An insider told press, “The role requires a very beautiful foreigner. Both Rakesh and his son Hrithik felt that Penelope would fit the bill perfectly. They spoke to Anurag about it, who seconded the idea. Thereafter, Filmkraft (Rakesh Roshan’s company) got in touch with Penelope’s office in LA.”
