The 28-year-old actor, who died of an accidental prescription drug overdose earlier this year, filed a three-page will in his native Australia in April 2003. The will preceded Ledger’s relationship with Brokeback costar Michelle Williams and the 2005 birth of their daughter, Matilda Rose.

A series of documents filed in Manhattan Surrogate’s Court revealed that the actor had less than $145,000 in New York assets at the time, including a $25,000 Toyota Prius and $20,000 in furniture and fixtures. His greater wealth, including trust funds, Australian properties and the Brooklyn townhouse he once shared with Williams, is uncertain.

It’s unclear whether there will be any provisions for Williams or Matilda Rose, now 2. The bulk of Ledger’s estate will be handled in Australia, according to the report.

The actor’s lawyer has asked a judge to seal the documents for privacy. Ledger’s spokeswoman, Mara Buxbaum, declined to comment.

At the time, she was still mourning their breakup. “I didn’t know where to go” after their 2007 split, she says in the magazine’s April issue. “I couldn’t imagine any place in the world that was gonna feel good to me.”

Williams, 27, dove into work on several films, because “when I have too much free time, that’s when things start to get a little messy.”

She also naturally focused on Matilda, 2, her daughter with Ledger. “She’s bigger to me than any relationship, bigger than the awards,” Williams says. “She’s what came out of it.”

Federal agents still don’t know how actor Heath Ledger obtained the powerful painkillers Oxycontin and Vicodin, a source tells the press.

No bottles for those drugs were found in Ledger’s apartment, though bottles were located for the other prescriptions such as sleeping pills and anti-anxiety drugs found in his system, the source said.

Drug Enforcement Administration agents returned Thursday from interviews with two doctors – one in Houston and one in Los Angeles – who met with Ledger and prescribed drugs other than the painkillers, according to the source.

“We’re still trying to find out who gave him the Oxycontin and Vicodin,” the source said, adding that Ledger did not appear to have any medical condition that would have required those two drugs. “We’ll search databases to see if we can find out and also credit cards records and so forth. Either someone gave it to him or he bought it himself or he got it online.”

The agents will continue to try to find physicians who may have prescribed the drugs, which is always the first step in such investigations, the source said. After all the physicians have been interviewed, agents then move on to interviewing other people who could have given him the drugs, which contributed to his death.

While relatively small amounts of Oxycontin and Vicodin were found, the source said, “Just the mix itself with the other drugs is enough to kill you.”

What’s puzzling, though, the source says, is that it appears Ledger had kicked his habit and “everyone spoke so highly of him,” so it’s not clear why he would have been using the powerful painkillers.

The source adds that the investigation could take another month.

The Australian actor, 28, was found dead in his downtown New York apartment on Jan. 22. An autopsy whose results were announced earlier this month blamed an accidental mixture of prescription drugs, said New York City’s Chief Medical Examiner.

“We are investigating doctors in Los Angeles and Texas with regard to Ledger’s prescriptions,” the source tells PEOPLE.

However, the source did not say whether any wrongdoing is involved, saying, “We don’t know yet. The agents were there this week, and we are waiting to hear from them.”

The doctors in question are thought to have supplied Ledger with Oxycontin and Vicodin, law enforcement sources tell New York’s Daily News.

At issue is whether or not the powerful painkiller were prescribed legally, says the newspaper.

A portrait of the “Brokeback Mountain” actor has been entered into a contest for the Archibald Prize, a highly-regarded honor in Australia.

Vincent Fantauzzo, a friend of Heath’s, is the artist behind the piece called, simply “Heath.” Composed of three different versions of the actor, Fantauzzo says he hopes his art makes a connection with everyone who views it.

“The whispering, the voices, the frustration or something comical – they [represent] different ways that we might be thinking in our own mind.”

The painting was created prior to Ledgers death, and Vincent said that upon hearing of Heath’s untimely passing, he couldn’t believe the sad news. “I just didn’t believe it. When you paint someone, you meditate over them. I was painting Heath every day for 10 hours a day.”

The Archibald Prize winner will be announced March 7th.
