Even though Amy Winehouse received last-minute visa approval to go to the US for the Grammy’s, she still wasn’t able to make it stateside to accept her five awards. Instead, the recently rehabbed singer made the event a family affair, dining out with her close friends and family before performing and accepting her awards via satellite from a venue in London. When she chatted with Us Weekly, Amy expressed her enthusiasm for her upcoming performance, despite the fact that she would not be attending the ceremony in person. “I’d like to thank everyone for their support over the last couple of weeks. I’m really sorry I can’t be there, but I appreciate that I’m being given a second chance via satellite.”

The location was to be kept secret with only those closest to her allowed inside, but a crowd still had gathered outside the Riverside Studios chanting her name as Amy and clan arrived around 2:30am.

After accepting her five awards, including Record of the Year and Best New Artist, Amy told her family, “I’m so proud and happy that I had the opportunity to perform for the Grammys in my hometown of London with my family and friends around me”

Amy looked healthy and happy as she left her hotel to begin her big evening — hopefully winning those five awards will give her another boost to continue making progress back at rehab. She really has some chances with all the bad influence being “locked in”. You know who I’m talking about. That great and carrying husband of hers.
